Work Based Learning Spotlight: Kenzie Nelson, Rafter B Ranch LLC
Kenzie Nelson. My Ag Internship is with Meagan Brockhoff at Rafter B Ranch LLC. When I go there I do a wide variety of tasks including feeding, walking, riding, and grooming the horses. I chose this for my internship because I want to be a vet tech and Meagan knows a lot about horses, medicine, wrappings, and how to properly treat the animals. This has helped me with not only becoming a better rider but figuring out what is wrong and how to treat or fix the issues.
Work Based Learning Spotlight: Allera Roberts, Hiawatha Elementary School
Hi my name is Allera Roberts and I am a fourth grade teaching intern for Ms. Krebs. While I am going to the University of Kansas for Journalism, this work study has really made me want to pursue a career in education! When I go to my work study Ms. Krebs class is always working on their math for the day. I love being able to help them understand the problems, and helping them with their homework. My favorite part has been getting to know all the students, and seeing how they all learn differently.

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Micah Oldham, graphic design
My name is Micah Oldham and my workplace experience is involved with Graphic Design. For my workplace experience I stay at the school and help with various technology aspects around the school such as: using the video board outside the office for daily announcements, the scorers table used for basketball games, and making designs for our t-shirt shop! I am supervised by Mrs. Lindstrom who gives me various projects to work on around the school. I really enjoy helping around the school which is why this workplace experience has been so influential to me!

Work Based Learning Spotlight: Adison Williams, Hiawatha Elementary School
For my workplace experience I go to the elementary school and I intern with Miss Ashlyn Riley!! When I go, I do things like read to them, help them with their work, and spend time with the students at recess! I love this experience because I get to learn about the students and build connections with them.
Congratulations to our HES Character Kids who showed characteristics of the November character word- Teamwork. Grade level teachers chose one boy and one girl from their grade level who exemplified the character trait! Each student received a certificate, $5 gift card to McDonalds, and a Red Hawk character kids t-shirt! This recognition was made possible with a grant through The Foundation.
