With all these winter snow days in January and waiting on the Red Hawk Stop merchandise to arrive, the 3A Fiance in the Workplace-In house students started a little project. Under the direction of artist Malaya Donato, she created mural for the Red Hawk Stop. We would also like to thank Hiawatha High School Art instructor, Matt Leahy for graciously allowing these students to use supplies from his art department.
"You have the right to remain silent." Students in Mr. Hampl's 8th Grade American History & Government classes created and performed skits involving police searches and individual rights. USD 415 Resource Officer Brandon Lowe presented to Mr. Hampl's 8th Grade American History & Government classes about his role as resource officer, police searches, warrants, student and public rights, and careers in law enforcement. In the photo the students had a creative skit, but Officer Lowe noticed the students needed some guidance on proper protocol for making a search and arrest.

Congratulations to the Hiawatha Red Hawk Forensics team who competed against 13 teams at the Sabetha High School Invitational placing 6th overall!
Olivia Hawks placed 1st in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI) qualifying her for State Champs.
Mark Stroud placed 6th on n Impromptu Speech qualifying him for state Festival.
Olivia Hawks & Zoey Hedrick placed 5th in Impromptu Duet Acting qualifying them for State Festival
Israel Ross placed 4th in Prose qualifying him for State Festival.
Eli Hoschouer placed 6th in Original Oration (OO) Eli also placed 3rd in Program of Oral Interpretation (POI)

First grade met for their monthly team building activity and today’s activity was to use a “human alphabet” to create letters and words. They had to work together to make the letter formations to spell out the word assigned to each group. We are proud of their efforts and proud of them for completing the challenging task!

The Fourth Grade traveled to the Pony Express Museum in St. Joe today. The 4th graders have been learning about the Westward Expansion and loved visiting the museum to see the history come to life! They even got to learn what it was like to go to school back then in a one room school house!
