Dear Red Hawk Families,
At last night’s regularly scheduled board of education meeting, some important decisions were made. Those decisions included the adoption of the USD 415 Return to Learn Plan and the Remote Learning Handbook. I would encourage you to examine those documents. The adjusted school calendar was also adopted. These documents are located on our website.
A large portion of the Return to Learn Plan centers around health and safety. Provisions of the plan include safeguards like temperature checks as well and wearing face masks. In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community, USD 415 will begin requiring that all students and staff wear face coverings during the school day. This policy will begin immediately. We understand that this may be inconvenient for students and families, which is something we carefully considered when making our decision. However, we believe that requiring masks is the responsible action to take in the interest of minimizing risks for everyone in our school buildings—as well as the people they interact with outside of school.
Masks will be required anytime social distancing cannot be guaranteed. Furthermore, teachers will ensure students have ample mask breaks. USD 415 will provide washable cloth masks. Students may also bring their own. Guidelines for masks are located in the Return to Learn Plan.
Thank you for your understanding as we attempt to make the best educational and safety decisions we can. Please contact us with questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Lonnie D. Moser, Superintendent
